On Monday 29th January, the staff and shoppers at Kay’s kosher supermarket in Golders Green were threatened by a man with a kitchen knife. This deliberate and anti-semitic attack was bravely de-escalated by the quick actions of staff members such as Bruno Teixeira, a Portuguese father-of-one, shopkeeper Evyatar Reitman, and Breno Camargo a 22 year old.

According to Reitman, the attacker first approached the shop and demanded to know their position on Israel and Palestine. The attacker with his knife then attempted to attack those in the shop. The suspect was arrested by the Metropolitan police shortly after.

I was privileged to meet the incredibly brave individuals who work at Kay's Kosher supermarket on Hamilton Road,  who responded quickly to the incident last week. A huge thank you for taking the time to talk to me.

It is vital that authorities thoroughly investigate this act of hate and take measures to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone affected. Anti-semitism is unacceptable.
